MAX3292ESD+ is an RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with preemphasis for high-speed, long-distance communication. It features driver preemphasis circuitry, which extends the distance and increases the data rate of reliable communication by reducing intersymbol interference (ISI) caused by long cables. It is programmable for data rates up to 10Mbps by using a single external resistor. It is a full-duplex device that operates from a single +5V supply and offers a low-current shutdown mode that reduces supply current to 100nA. They feature driver output short-circuit current limiting and a fail-safe receiver input that guarantees a logic-high output if the input is an open circuit. A 1/4-unit load receiver input impedance allows up to 128 transceivers on the bus. Applications include long-distance, high-speed RS-485/RS-422 communications, telecommunications, industrial-control local area networks.

- Differential driver output is 1.5V min at R=27ohm
- Differential driver output with preemphasis is 2.4V min at R=27ohm
- Driver short-circuit output current is ±30mA min at -7V ≤ VOUT ≤ +12V
- No-Load Supply Current is 2.0mA typ at active-low RE=GND, DE=VCC
- Supply current in shutdown mode is 0.1µA typ at active-low RE=VCC, DE=GND, VY=VZ=0 to VCC
- Driver propagation delay is 41ns typ at RDIFF=54ohm, CL1=CL2=50pF
