Product Overview
The MAX1480ECEPI+ is a ±15KV ESD protected, isolated RS485/RS422 data interface in 28 pin DIP package. It is a complete, electrically isolated RS485/RS422 data communication interface solution in a hybrid microcircuit. The I/O pins are protected against ±15KV ESD shocks without latch-up. Transceivers, optocouplers and transformer provide a complete interface in a standard DIP package. The MAX1480EC has reduced slew rate drivers that minimize EMI and reduces reflections caused by improperly terminated cables allowing error free data transmission at data rate up to 160Kbps. Drivers are short circuit current limited and protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places driver outputs into a high impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that provides a known output (complementary RO pin is low) if input is open circuit. It is used in telecom, automatic test equipment, HVAC/building control networks and EMI sensitive applications.
